how come when dr. seuss wrote 'oh the places youll go' he didnt mention highly neurotic douche bag coworkers of the future who either subscribe to being extreme type A's or highly sensitive mommas boys who are still suckling her teet or my favorite- the self righteous i-am-better-than-you-and-can-never-be-wrong (and even though were the same age your personality traits liken to that of a 57 year old virgin whos role model in life is headmaster trunchbull from matilda -roald dahl-)????
its not to say i havent met super cool and totally amazing people on the job at the magazine or the talent agency.. i have better experiences than not. but WHY must i deal with these freaks of nature? WHY does my week have to be tainted with these DOUCHE BAGS who get worked up over something with the importance equivalent to that of TPS report covers? WHY WHY WHY?? im trying to live a totally young & fabulous life and although i am more or less succeeding -WHY ARE YOU UP MY ASS?
i know that not everyone is going to be like me (procrastinating, shortcut taking, totally laissez-faire) in a word, shrug. its what i do. i cag. from day one its been the same story- i dont know how many times ive heard my dad say it- if i just applied myself i would accomplish even greater things. but i dont, and i still do fine. and i still somehow get what i want. but thats neither here nor there. i was blessed with the gift of gab and not the gift of over zealous worker bee.
i just dont get how being a total dick is going to get you anywhere in the work place or life -sure you may have to have some balls when dealing with certain scenarios- and im not saying to be a pussy pushover, but to be at least have tact, some maturity that hopefully comes with not being 15 anymore, and most importantly, to be relateable in order to have some work place comraderie.. to stick it to the man together.. to get away with stupid shit and laugh at your employers expense... why do some people just refuse to realize theres an infinite difference between taking a job seriously and taking themselves seriously?
this is all the time im allowing myself to spend on this topic today. bc im home, im relaxing, about to smoke a freaking bowl and i will not allow these troglodytes make me take one more deep eye rolling sigh today. however, i will be back soon with some very descriptive character sketches and enough blood boiling stories to make me consider trying to get fired all over again.
not now.

i shouldve known better than to work for the man.
recently my relatively new employer lets call it XXXX agency merged with lets call it EDV. this means one of four things.
1. life continues as is, nothing changes, i stay employed. yay because i dont have to mission without money or looking for a job. however, something in me saddens at this thought because i like the adventurous unknown and seeing what this does for the grand scheme of my life.
2. our office closes bc its relatively insignificant and business can be conducted out of one of the other main offices in LA or NY. (this means they don't pay for assistants to move bc theyre a dime a dozen.. and im laid off) this scenario should freak me out but it doesnt. but somewhere in the back of my head i think this is akin to when you have a relationship with someone you take for granted and think youd love to break up with given the right moment.. but when they do it to you, you realize how much you loved them (or it) all along. i DONT think this will happen to me bc i dont love work. i dont know if its working in general or just the work i do now. i just know im not fond of it. but i also like having a steady income at a fairly decent job. moving on.
3. our office expands and new agents are brought in. this slightly excites me because theres a chance ill be promoted to an assistant (im in the proverbial mailroom.. its not so bad, its my own, and im usually left to my own devices.. however, its time for a more respectable title) and ofcourse, meeting new people .. rather, characters.. that have worked for EDV which means theyve literally worked for Ari Gold. i really wouldnt mind that sort of insight.. and if for nothing else, simply for sheer entertainment.
4. our office closes but nevertheless, the big agents break off and do their own thing and they need people (read: peons) to help them start up for next to nothing, and this is where i come in because itll be that or.. some other brand new entry level job and starting all over again with new people.. and hating that new job in exactly 3-4 months, like always. or worse, a job in the service industry.. shudder. (the pro there is.. no 9-5 desk but thats absolute last resort)
i should have an answer in the next 2-3 weeks.. and ill be surprised if its options 3 or 4. am i gunning for 1 or 2? not sure. ambivalent you could say. shrug, i say.
